The Caravan Club West Sussex Centre

Chairlady's Message

Fran Phillips-Chairlady & husband Scott

Firstly I would like to welcome you all to the Caravan & Motorhome Club, West Sussex Centre. I am immensely proud to be standing for a second year as Chairlady and I’d like to thank you all for your continued support to both the committee and the centre. The dedication and commitment of the committee behind me must be praised; running a centre takes a great deal of time but if last year is anything to go by, what a superb job! I would like to thank Laurie Manning and Dave Suckling for remaining as Southern Centres and South East Region representatives respectively; these roles are also time consuming for which I acknowledge and thank you both. We have continued the fun and varied rally themes from last year into 2018 and I hope you will find several, if not all, rallies to interest you. I cannot extend enough thanks to all who have volunteered to run rallies, in your own time and sometimes expense; there wouldn’t be any rallies without you, so thank you. If you haven’t run a rally yet and would be interested, please feel free to have a chat with any of the committee; you can make your rally your own by doing as much or as little as possible but it really is refreshing to have new people with new ideas to share with others. If you don’t feel confident to run a rally then why not offer to co-run with someone else to find your feet? It is customary to hold a Chairlady’s rally to thank the committee and members who have run a rally. I have decided to open this up to everyone so you will see this advertised in this year’s programme; the theme is Alice in Wonderland and I would like to invite you to come and enjoy our Mad Hatters Tea Party! Fancy dress is, as always, optional. We have been busy promoting the centre and wish to continue this during 2018. Waiting for rally photos to be posted on Facebook is exciting and we are never let down – well done Steve! We are working on trying to publish these on our website so please bear with us. If anyone would prefer not to be included in pictures, please let myself or one of the committee know and we will ensure you are anonymised. As you know, my chosen charity is the Macmillan volunteers and I would like to thank you all for your kind donations to date and may the fundraising continue! This charity is personal to my family and I am sure, if not personally, everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer. Although the volunteers can’t take the disease away, they are committed to make patients’ time in the cancer centre a little easier. In a bid to boost the funds we have a mobile tuck shop to hand for both humans and dogs so please let me know if you feel the munchies at any point and we will happily provide the goodies. It just leaves me to say Scott and I look forward to seeing you all on the rally field in the coming year and I hope to welcome new ralliers and their families to the scene too. Please remember, the committee and rally officers are all volunteers, and they aren’t paid because they are worthless but because they are priceless! Thanks for all your support.
